De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis

  • Jeremy E. Raducha

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is an overuse syndrome resulting in wrist pain. It is commonly present in middle aged women, classically in the postpartum period. Although termed an “itis” the condition is not thought to be the result of inflammation but rather a retinacular/tendon thickening and subsequent friction injury. In order to properly treat this condition, one must know the anatomy involved and how to detect it clinically. This chapter will test your knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of this pathology along will the common complications associated with operative management.
