Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease associated with autoantibodies known as rheumatoid factor (RF). RF is produced by autoreactive B cells against self-IgG Fc regions. Therefore, RF is wieldy used in clinical laboratories as a biomarker for rheumatoid arthritis. This chapter describes the principle, applications, reagents, steps, results interpretation, and the limitations of the most commonly used test to detect RF.
