Robotic Mini-Gastric Bypass

Mini-gastric bypass (MGB) is rapidly becoming a common bariatric surgical procedure. At the same time, the use of robotics in complex surgery is expanding into many gastrointestinal surgical procedures. Robotic MGB has the advantage of 3D vision, camera and all instrument control by the surgeon, articulation of instruments, and fine suturing of the anastomosis. After the first robotic MGB by Prasad in 2012, many centers across the world where robotics is available are taking up robotic MGB. This is an additional tool in the existing technological armamentarium that is available for making the surgery technically simpler and accurate.
