The SAFECHR Protocol has at its center the recognition of survivors’ roles in the successful treatment of victims, the clinicians’ roles in the stabilization of victims, and the community’s role in the prevention and protection of its citizens. The stages of the SAFECHR Protocol will be delineated along with the description of each stage to assist those developing safe houses to do so in a clinically sound and trauma-informed manner. The key components of the SAFECHR I-RESTT-IN-SAFE (IRIS) Protocol will be addressed and discussed in detail.
