Perioperative Management in Saphenous Sparing Surgery

Saphenous sparing surgery is a procedure composed of preoperative haemodynamic diagnostics with ultrasound and marking on the skin followed by little surgical intervention in the standard cases. This is possible under local anaesthesia and in outdoor patients. Back to work can be the day after surgery or at the most 3 days later. Compression stockings should be worn for 6 weeks, heparin prophylaxis is given depending on the situation, and medication against pain is needed only in about 20% of the cases. Veins reduce their calibre during the next weeks to months after intervention; a control appointment with the responsible team is necessary.
