Inflatable Bone Tamp (Osteoplasty) for Reduction of Intra-articular Fractures
Chapter
First Online:
Abstract
Fracture reduction remains one of the most important steps of a successful osteosynthesis. Different techniques and instruments have been developed to achieve fracture reduction with minimal invasive approaches. Lately, the so-called inflatable bone tamp (extra-vertebral balloon osteoplasty) has gained great popularity being used as a tool for reduction of fractures. In this chapter the technique will be demonstrated for the management of tibial plateau Schatzker type II and III depressed intra-articular fractures.
