Noninvasive Ventilation

Abstract

Noninvasive ventilation is usually applied in pressure support mode. Unintentional leaks and upper airway obstruction are particularities of noninvasive ventilation that can be detected on the flow curve. Unintentional leaks are a common cause of patient-ventilator asynchrony occurring both at the beginning and the end of inspiration. Flow waveform observation helps to optimize the synchronization settings.
