Positive Education’s New Frontier: Curriculum Integration

Abstract

Positive psychology’s influence in education is evolving rapidly as schools around the world seek to embed the science of wellbeing. The nature and scope of the programs varies according to the resources and values of the institutions. The future of effective implementation in schools lies in an increased integration of wellbeing education with academic curricula; no longer should the two be viewed as competing agendas. This chapter provides an overview of the current context in many schools, an evidence-based rationale for better integration, and one example of how this might be done in every school, regardless of culture, mandated curriculum, or resources.
