Complication Management: Foreign Body Retrieval

Last few decades have witnessed a huge increase in the number of catheter-based interventions being performed around the world, which has also resulted in an increase in the number and variety of complications. Intravascular foreign bodies are usually iatrogenic and result from various endovascular procedures. They have the potential to cause grave complications such as embolism, ischemia, sepsis, and even death. Percutaneous retrieval of foreign bodies is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive approach. It is widely considered the standard of care today. The availability of various retrieval devices has added to our armamentarium to tackle this unique complication.
