EUS-Guided Interventions: Indications, Contraindications, and Risks
Abstract
Endosonography-guided fine needle aspiration today is a very important specialized endoscopic method for diagnosis and therapy of numerous diseases. It features high clinical efficacy in the hands of experienced users with minimal invasiveness and very rare complications.
The method is established and beneficial especially for the characterization of small and disseminated lesions along and around the GI tract and the tracheobronchial system, for the staging of tumors and for local therapies. This chapter demonstrates the most important applications and technical preconditions in detail.
