Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy Step by Step: How I Do It
There are three different Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy (MIE) procedures: 1- the 3 stage McKeown MIE, 2- the 2 stage Ivor Lewis MIE and 3- the Transhiatal MIE procedure. The thoracoscopic phase of the two first procedures may be performed in lateral or in prone position. The choice for the approach is made according to the location of the tumor and the general condition of the patient.
