Abstract
The nucleus is the largest organelle in the cell. It contains the nuclear DNA, the main part of the genome, and one to several nucleoli. During cell division, the nuclear DNA is replicated and split into the nuclei of two new daughter cells. The two types of cell divisions, mitosis and meiosis, are explained in detailed yet simple manner. The various types of cell death are also described.
