Abstract
This chapter examines the next time period after the Space Shuttle—the ISS and Private Enterprise. During the Space Shuttle program, there was continuing interest in an Earth orbiting International Space Station (ISS) that is considered to be one of the greatest technological achievements. The ISS served as an orbiting research laboratory for experiments related to Earth’s atmosphere as well as exploring deep space. The ISS resulted in a number of important collaborations and research discoveries.
