Prenatal planning in multiple sclerosis

Abstract

A 24-year-old, right-handed woman presented with a three-day history of worsening left monocular visual loss. She initially noted an ‘oily smudge’ over her central visual field while using her computer at work. Bright colors were less vibrant. Symptoms progressed over the next 2 days to visual loss involving most of the left monocular visual field. For the past day, she noted left retro-orbital pain, particularly at the extremes of eye movement. When she covered the left eye, vision with the right eye was normal. There were no other neurological symptoms and no history of previous transient neurological symptoms. Her past medical history was unremarkable and she took no regular medications. There was no family history of neurologic or autoimmune disease.
