Abstract

Intraosseous infusions and injections involve using a rigid needle that is inserted into a long bone for the purpose of administering medications and fluids. Any medication that may be given intravenously may be given via the intraosseous route. The bone marrow includes venous sinusoids that drain into emissary and nutrient veins. This chapter will describe two approaches to intraosseous injections.
