Abstract

What is the most fundamental driving force in the ongoing investigation of the exoplanets? It is not far-fetched to assume that finding life on another planet is at the top of the list. A discovery like that would be revolutionising and thus constitute a strong motivation for the scientists. The research within the field also attracts the interest of the public, which in turn improves the possibilities of the researchers to fund new observational projects. What is realistic to achieve during the next few decades?
