In the film “Quantum of Solace”, James Bond fights the villain Dominic Greene, who tries to get his hands on the water resources of Bolivia. The villain belongs to a shadowy criminal group called Quantum that supports a coup d’état by an exiled Bolivian general. In exchange for its support, Quantum wants a seemingly barren piece of desert. As James Bond discovers, that piece of desert actually contains the aquifers that feed the country’s water supply. The true aim of Quantum is to make a ton of money from a monopoly on the vital liquid once their stooge is in power. Fortunately, James Bond foils the evil plot and leaves the villain Greene stranded in the desert with only a can of engine oil.
