The Philosophical Foundation of Running
Abstract
In this chapter we will take a closer look at phenomenology as a means to investigate and to understand man as a bodily being. Man’s bodily being in the world and the basis for being in the world is discussed with the help of Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy. An attempt is made to show why it is essential in the approach chosen for this kind of human research to take the bodily viewpoint and why it is of primary importance compared to the analytical philosophical approach, which does not take into account the significance and quality of experiential sui generis, for example. How does the preobjective world constitute an individual? This is essential and important. Heidegger’s fundamental ontology is used here to uncover the realization of man in the world. This is where the author presents his basic ideas about making a connection between Heidegger’s and his own thoughts and how he sees running from the viewpoint of fundamental ontology.
