Intraneural Ganglion Cysts

  • Amgad S. Hanna

Abstract

Our understanding of intraneural ganglion cysts has considerably improved in the past few years. They usually arise from a degenerated joint. Synovial fluid under pressure exits the joint through an articular branch of a nerve. This can spread retrograde to involve the parent nerve. The classic example is the common peroneal nerve and the superior tibiofibular joint .
