Abstract
Brightnest is a generic and user-friendly web-based Home Automation System. Its interface provides users with information on the whole system or with control over the devices and their rules. The architecture is based on web-services and their REST API, implemented using node.js. New types of devices can also be easily integrated into the system thanks to an innovative architecture using “JS Drivers”, imitating the way a computer usually handles new devices. To demonstrate our solution, various devices were employed, such as SunSPOTs and Philips HUE Lights.
