Abstract

Trichothiodystrophy (TTD) is a term introduced by Vera Price and coworkers in 1980 (Price et al. 1980) to describe a group of autosomal recessive neuroectodermal disorders whose defining feature is brittle hair with a cystein content less than half of normal. The designation derives from Greek: tricho, hair; thio, sulfur; dys, faulty; and trophe, nourishment.
