Das Mathematische Seminar der Universität Strassburg 1872–1900

Abstract
This article outlines the development of the ancient universities of Strassburg until 1872, of the Alsace under German rule and of the so-called “Kaiser-Wilhelms-Universität”, which was newly-founded in 1872. Emphasis is given to the “Mathematisches Seminar” (mathematical section) directed by Christoffel and Reye, to its staff, lectures and students, and its working conditions until about 1900.
