Abstract

The conclusion returns to the original argument of the text, namely, that ethics can contribute important insights and theoretical resources to discussions, such as war and political violence, which are often seen as falling within the purview of the social sciences. The book is an argument not only about applying ethics in a different mode but also an argument about methodology and how to approach certain experiences and events in ways that do not ignore their moral dimension, a dimension important to survivors themselves. The chapter and book ends with a reflection on the consequences of this work for methodology and for humanistic approaches to practical issues, making a final argument for the broader relevance of the ethical humanities and philosophy.
