Part of the Britain and the World book series (BAW)

Abstract

Kenrick draws conclusions from his study of white Rhodesian nationalism between 1965 and 1979. Setting out the key themes of the study: the transnational nature of national projects, the negotiation of racial identities, the importance of history to processes of decolonisation, and the influence of militarism upon societies. It positions Rhodesia at a nexus between settler and non-settler colonies and considers the wider implications of the Rhodesian case study for our understandings of decolonisation, nationalism, and white identity both in the past and in the present day.
