Functional Imaging for Customization of Oncology Treatment

Abstract

Medical imaging, such as multi-modality PET/CT or multi-parametric MR, play today a major role in cancer diagnosis. At the same time there is an increasing interest in the use of multimodality imaging for patient follow-up and more specifically monitoring treatment response. Within this context, the extraction and exploitation of quantitative biomarkers from the reconstructed images, currently known as radiomics, allows the contruction of predicitive and prognostic models. The classification of patients based on these models represents a first step in treatment personalisation and is a primary field for the application of artificial intelligence.
