Al Gore – The Climate Crusader

  • László Erdős

Abstract

Al Gore, who served as the 45th Vice President of the United States, is one of the few politicians who are best-known for their environmental activism. His primary interest is global warming: this is the focus of his books, slideshows, and political activism. The film ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ which is based on Gore’s slideshows about climate change, became one of the most successful documentaries of all times: it performed well at the box office and received two Oscars and plenty of other awards. In 2007 Al Gore and the IPCC were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize ‘for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.’
