Abstract

The standard model of particle physics represents one of the great successes of elementary particle physics in recent times, being able to predict various physics processes and observables that have later been experimentally confirmed. The final element to be verified through experiment is the presence of a Higgs boson, the particle associated with the field that generates the mass of all elementary particles. In 2012, the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC observed a new boson with a mass of approximately 125\(\,\text {GeV}\)  [1, 2].
