Donald P. Ely: My Teacher, My Mentor, and My Friend

  • Thomas ReevesEmail author

Donald P. Ely, regarded by many as the father of Educational Technology and certainly one of the top leaders of our field, was my teacher, my mentor, and my friend. He had a profound impact on my life. After I completed 2 years of service in the U.S. Army, I went on a higher education binge between January 1971 and May 1979, completing a B.S. in Elementary Education, M.S. in Instructional Technology, M.L.M. in Library Media, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Design, Development, & Evaluation. I never would have earned my three graduate degrees without the wise guidance and excellent role model provided by Professor Ely.
