Responsibly and Accurately: Dwelling in Imagined Worlds
Early in my fieldwork Tavis Allison told me a story about a game that he once played with Rob Kuntz. Rob participated in the historic session when Dave Arneson introduced Gary Gygax to the house-ruled version of Chainmail that would become Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) (Peterson 2012, p. 71). He also played regularly in Gary’s original campaign, Greyhawk, taking on the role of the infamous fighter Robilar, who was the first to descend to the deepest level of the Greyhawk dungeon. Besides contributing to the development and refereeing of Greyhawk, Rob also ran a game for Gary in Castle Raja Key, a dungeon that Rob had designed.
