Trauma, Learning, and Memory

Chapter

Abstract

While tracking recent events in litigation and a California school district, this chapter examines the way trauma effects learning, and the ability to retrieve memories/learned material. Trauma is examined and defined in the context of schools and learning. Furthermore, contemporary views on trauma are simplified for educators and other non-clinicians. The signs and symptoms of Educational Trauma are delineated to show educators and clinicians, alike, what it looks like in students.
