Abstract

The best way to deal with traumatic injury is preventing it from occurring. The challenge of injury prevention lies in the complexity of the problem and the need to address it in diverse ways and on multiple levels. The depiction of successful traumatic injury prevention programs as case studies can be useful to practitioners and policy-makers in their planning and program implementation. The Life Space Case Study Framework with four main divisions: sociocultural, interpersonal, ecological (physical environment), and internal states and the BRIO Model (Background; Resources, Implementation, and Outcome) are useful tools providing thorough program description that follows a storyline. The case studies presented here are divided into four parts: Sports and Recreation Traumatic Injury; Falls; Road Safety; and Community Systems. An overview of incidence and literature review precede each part.
