This chapter concludes the book by making an argument in two parts. 1. Learning a critical media literacy as a practice of being in the world is what we need, as opposed to either training to work in ‘the media’ without wanting to change it (a lot) or fact-checking tools, alternative algorithms or a faithful return to ‘real news’. 2. Media Studies can do this, but it’s in the margins. It needs to be in the centre of the school curriculum.
