On commencing any research project, a vital step is to conduct a thorough review of the literature. Over the last decade, healthcare simulation has matured as a distinct research field. However, the conceptual underpinnings for many areas of research within the field can be found in journals of other disciplines. This underscores the importance of adopting a broad search strategy when investigating literature that might aid with a current research question. In this chapter, we discuss how to seek and critically appraise the literature in healthcare simulation.
