Clinical Issues in the Arthritis Patient
This chapter serves as a general overview of the rheumatic diseases, offering an introduction to clinical rheumatology as it relates to the review of musculoskeletal radiology. It begins with a discussion of various physical exam, history, and laboratory findings. Next, the most common rheumatic diseases (both inflammatory and noninflammatory) are summarized – with a focus on describing typical clinical and radiologic findings. There is some additional discussion of common treatments as well. This chapter provides a brief background of the rheumatic diseases for physicians in all specialties.
