Abstract
Keloids and hypertrophic scars are extremely disturbing to patients, both physically and psychologically. Intense pulsed light (IPL) is effective not only in improving the appearance of hypertrophic scars and keloids regardless of their origin, but also in reducing the height, redness, and hardness of many type scars. With the new generation of IPL, it is now possible to modify the structure and the texture of scars with settings of the train of pulses and the right choice of spectral band of light.
