Abstract

Various terms are used to refer to slope instability in the range of disciplines involved in the study of mass movement. Ayala (Landslides or ground movements? Definition, classifications and terminology. Investigaciones Geográficas, UNAM. Boletín del Instituto de Geografía, Mexico, 2000) points out that hillside processes are referred to as gravitational processes, mass movement or, in a general sense, landslides. These terms indicate that a slope is unstable and that some form of clearance process may occur.
