Facial esthetics are dependent on anatomy and the relation of facial structures to one another. Therefore, it is imperative for the facial surgeon to know the ideal beauty standards and understand how aging causes deviations from that ideal. The surgeon must be able to plan any cosmetic surgery based on a careful and objective analysis of the face. This chapter will review how to evaluate and assess facial esthetics.
