Understanding the Nature of Consciousness, Self, and Reality

Abstract

Part IV explores how we might understand curriculum as an experience of consciousness transformation by means of examining six key elements (Chaps.  5,  6,  7,  8,  9 and  10). This chapter firstly addresses the issues of the overreliance on science and rationalism in the educational landscape, including the (in)validity of scientific knowledge, frozen futurism, and the diminished half-life, and explores the limitations of scientific method and rational analysis in answering the existential inquiries. Uncovering the fundamental differences between the approach of negation and the approach of science, the author then argues for the imperative of integrating existential knowledge and spiritual wisdom regarding the nature of consciousness, self, and reality into curriculum. The significance of the union of method and wisdom, or the analytical and intuitive, for consciousness transformation is supported with experimental evidence.
