Performance of Medical Image Transfer in High Bandwidth Networks

The paper summarizes testing the performance of transferring DICOM medical images. Experimental setup consists of several different workstations connected in gigabit network. The results state that legacy DICOM communication’s efficiency is much worse than the transfer provided by novel technologies, especially DICOMweb. Hardware-related circumstances have also been discussed.
