Abstract

Picking up the schedule for the day, Dr. Jonas notices with a sigh that Mrs. Smith is slotted for a 10:00 am appointment. This will be her third visit to the practice in 6 weeks with the same vague complaints. He had already run a battery of routine diagnostic blood work and imaging and did the appropriate workups for her symptoms, searching for everything from autoimmune disorders to vitamin deficiencies, ruling out any of the obvious diagnoses, but they yielded no explanation for her dysphoric mood.
