Abstract

Scapulothoracic bursectomy can be an effective treatment for patients with scapulothoracic bursitis and snapping scapula syndrome who have failed nonoperative treatment. The procedure aims to remove the pathologic tissue from the scapulothoracic articulation in order to decrease pain and eliminate mechanical crepitus while improving upper extremity function.
