Chromatography is among the most important methods used to assess the composition of gaseous and liquid species. The basic principles of this method are explained in this chapter with particular focus on gas chromatography and, in addition, the analysis of the main parameters of chromatography is given. The results of the analysis are expressed by a chromatogram. The meaning of all the related chromatogram parameters is explained in detail in this section with a discussion on the statistical correlations of them. As a matter of fact, the different peaks of the chromatogram are assumed as Gaussian curves with reasons, and therefore, some statistical analysis can be applied here and interesting derivations can be obtained.
