Abstract

Bleeding after colonoscopic polypectomy is not uncommon, but clinically significant hemorrhage is rare. Post-polypectomy bleeding is often controlled during the procedure without intervention; however, more severe hemorrhage may be controlled with various colonoscopic methods including clips, injection of epinephrine, or endoscopic band ligation of a bleeding vessel. If bleeding is not controlled by these methods, arterial embolization or surgical resection may be necessary.
