Part of the Archimedes book series (ARIM, volume 54)

Abstract

In this case, again, Xu Shuwei summarizes his diagnosis and treatment while at the same time explaining to his readers why the other physician’s treatment, which was probably usual at the time, was incorrect. He further explains why the symptoms do not fit the pathology of the patient’s condition and advocates treatment of the source of the disorder rather that its symptoms.
