The US/NATO Push Toward the East After the Collapse of the Soviet Union
US power is based on NATO and the position of the dollar as a reserve currency. And power in the United States, in turn, is based on the a few powerful families controlling the financial system and the FED. This financial system is always looking for new markets to explore and new governments to “convert” to the neoliberal doctrine. This is one of the main rationales to extend NATOs jurisdiction eastward and to surround Russia. But Russia has repeatedly warned through many channels that it would not permit any further expansion, especially in Ukraine. First Bush and then Obama failed to heed that warning and continued to push the Alliance east, this despite the complete fiasco of US foreign policy in the Middle East.
