The Internet is a global electronic network that links computers and other networks together. It consists of many interconnected networks, and it operates without a single governing body. The Internet has led to almost instantaneous communication, and it has led to electronic mail, the World Wide Web, social networking, electronic commerce, and telephone calls over the Internet.
