Conclusion: Topical and Indigenous Perspectives
This book has considered music as a performative and even violent force in dystopian narrative related to climate change. The works discussed in this book invite viewers and listeners to engage with climate crisis in a state of critical vulnerability, in which recognition of troubling data becomes embodied. This final section of the book combines reflection on these works with questions of music’s role in contemporary protest culture and examples of indigenous sound and art responding to climate change, in regions where the stakes for Native communities have never been higher.
