This chapter argues that without the cultural understanding of the place they are reporting from and the journalistic cultures that exist, foreign correspondents might still not be reporting accurately. The role of the audience is paramount here. What is it modern day audiences are seeking from their journalists, and particularly from foreign correspondents? This chapter argues that it is reality, a true reality understood by the citizens on the ground, not a pre-imagined reality perpetuated for media audiences.
