Abstract

Recalling the Schumpeter theories, does the evolutionary process reward profitable adaptations and innovations and punish less efficient ways of organising resources? In an internet innovative contest, the internet entrepreneur (or the digital entrepreneur) is someone who is looking at the vast power of the internet to start or grow a business or a new business, as well as putting prevalent attention to some start-up basics, such as blending new technology with classic, good business sense or a new type of goods and services. The question involving the internet entrepreneur are various: (1) Can someone call themselves an entrepreneur if they start a business but does not own an institutional form? (2) Can anyone that have self-initiative become an entrepreneur, without needing to own specific requirements? (3) Is it true that the digital world opens up new entrepreneurial opportunities for people from all types of backgrounds? (4) Is it true that those new kind of entrepreneurships, done by or on the Internet or through the social network, escape by regulation? This chapter aims to explore the term ‘internet entrepreneur’, in an attempting to understand the concept and determine if it should be considered as a type of entrepreneur that blends new technology with classic, good business to sell on the Internet or if it leverages the Internet to generate income.
