Investigation to Establish Whether Cultural Analysis can be used to Improve the Interactions Between Design, Safety and Operations Departments

  • Tim Smith

This paper presents a study that was carried out to investigate the interactions between the design, safety and operations departments within an organisation. The study was carried out by the author in support of obtaining an MSc in Safety Engineering at Lancaster University. The author has over twenty-five years experience working in the nuclear and oil industries and has been involved in many projects during this time. While the majority of projects are successful there are always one or two that experience problems.
